That generation 5 Series got away with its strange looks by being a great car to drive. The design of the new 5 Series has been toned down quite a lot. It's not a bad looking car, it's just a bit boring. That means that the driving experience of this new 5 Series will need to make up for its looks as well.

Unfortunately, most reviews of the 5 Series have said that the new car isn't as good to drive as the old one. The new 5 Series is said to be softer and more comfortable. That's not necessarily a bad thing as long as the M5 is different.
