The Taurus is Ford’s full-size sedan that was redesigned for 2010 to turn it into a flagship car with an emphasis on fun driving dynamics and a lower, sportier design. The roofline has been lowered by about three inches, the driving position is lowered about two inches and the exterior design incorporates shorter overhangs, a defined wedge shape and a rear end influenced by the Ford Interceptor concept from 2007. Inside, the center console is laid dramatically forward, and the interior has a sportier look, including some Mustang trim cues. The flagship theme continues with numerous amenities and safety and technology features. Taurus is one of the most recognized vehicle nameplates in the market and after a 2-year hiatus, the Taurus name returned to the Ford lineup as a 2008 model in the summer of 2007. The new Taurus was an updated version of the Five Hundred that had joined the Ford lineup for 2005 and replaced the Taurus for the 2006 and 2007 model years. When the Taurus was introduced in 1985, the unique styling created a buzz in the market and by 1987 it was Ford’s best-selling car. From 1992 to 1996, Taurus was the best-selling car in America. The 2000 Taurus was the first production car to offer power-adjustable brake and accelerator pedals.
