The Peugeot 206 was founded in early 1990, replacing the previous model 205. Peugeot changed their model under the idea that super mini cars were no longer profitable, so the change was in order. The Peugeot 206 is not immediately followed the 205 models as Peugeot 106, 306 and 309 levels of sales from prospective customers to capture. The Peugeot 106 was in competition with the Ford Fiesta and Volkswagen Polo models 306 and 309, while the middle and end sales of 205 to finish. Because of this, many Peugeot enthusiasts believe the 206 would be called the 207. The 206, although created early was not released until 1998.

The nickname Peugeot says that after 205-206, but it's not true, as other models are released for the 206. The eventual successor, the 207 was finally launched a 2006, but Peugeot recently announced that the 206 will remain in production until 2010. The 206 is the best selling Peugeot of all time, but the latest model in the coming years will end in '06 generation 'of Peugeot cars in almost 20 years. The 206 was originally in France, England, but production switched to Slovakia. The British closed the plant in relation to the closure of Ryton, Peugeot took the Peugeot bought Chrysler in 1979, the European part.

The Peugeot 306 replaced the 309. The 306 is very similar to the Citroen ZX, which is released to the public two years ago by the Model 306. Both cars use the same structure and map. The 205 was styled after Pininfarina styling and was a best seller. Oil Crisis in 1974, Citroen and Peugeot Citroen failed. This led to a similar same car produced by two manufacturers. Phase 1 306 on the market in March 1993 to 3 and 5 door hatchback with three different models available. The five-door was more of a station wagon and was dubbed the "SS" for station wagon.
