Buick has announced that they will begin selling the Opel Astra GTC on U.S. shores in about a year.

Hatchbacks certainly aren't what comes to mind when one thinks of Buick, but neither were small sport sedans and the Regal worked out well. Buick is no doubt hoping to repeat the success of that last Opel to Buick conversion.

The Regal was groundbreaking for Buick, but not quite as groundbreaking as a hatchback will be. It'll be exciting to see if this works out for Buick.
If it does, Buick says they may bring a car Opel is currently developing to the States as well. It's a convertible based on the same platform as the Astra. Wow. That would be something. A compact convertible from Buick. If Buick does start selling convertibles again, I have a name suggestion for them: Reatta. That would be pretty cool.
